That’s why we offer immediate implants – tooth extraction and the implant are done at the same time saving you trips to the clinic and resolving the problem more quickly.*

With traditional implant methods, you would usually wait for 6 to 12 weeks after extraction before the implant is placed. And if you need a front tooth extracting, we may be able to fix a crown to the implant on the same day so you’ll regain your smile straight away.

Everyone is different so we’ll need to assess if you’re right for immediate implants during your consultation. But if you get the go ahead, this treatment is an ideal way to replace failing teeth in less time.

About immediate implants

What is an immediate implant?

Immediate implants usually replace single failing teeth with extraction and the placement of an implant occurring during the same clinic visit. Traditional methods would involve a 6 to 12-week wait in-between extraction and implant.
How does the implant work?

The implant is made up of a titanium screw (or fixture), a crown (the part that looks like a tooth) and a connecting part known as an abutment which links the screw to the crown.

The screw is placed beneath the gum line and into the jawbone. When used with the abutment, it creates a secure place for replacement teeth to be positioned. Implants are made from materials which are compatible with our bodies, but at Dental Implants 4 You we like to take even more care with our dental implant components.

Our implants have a unique surface to help accelerate healing while maintaining gum and bone levels. We also custom make abutments as standard at no extra cost. By milling each abutment for each individual, we can help ensure better, longer-lasting results.
How long does the treatment take?

We will remove the failing tooth and place an implant at the same time. After 3 months, we’ll fit a perfectly-matched crown onto the implant. Not only will the implant look and feel like a real tooth, it was also prevent future problems linked to missing teeth including loss of jawbone.

Sometimes for front teeth, we can fit a temporary crown on the same day as extraction and implant. We can talk through this during your consultation. Your permanent crown would then be fitted after 3 months.
Does it hurt?

We use local anaesthetic when placing the implant into your gum and jaw to ensure minimum discomfort. If you feel particularly nervous, we can also provide sedation. We work with many clients who feel anxious about dental treatments so are very experienced in supporting people throughout.
Which dental implants do you use?

We take the quality of our dental implants very seriously. After all, they are placed into the body and eventually become a part of it so working with a leading implant company was a natural choice for us.

Our implants are manufactured in Sweden by Astra Tech Dental. The implants have a unique surface which promotes faster healing while maintaining gum and bone levels for long-lasting results.

Unlike some other implant systems, the Astra Tech solution allows us to create a custom-made abutment (the part that links the screw to the crown). Stock abutments are only available in 3 sizes. Having the opportunity to tailor the abutment means we can recreate your natural tooth anatomy helping you to clean more easily and control plaque in the future. As dental implants are affected by plaque and gum disease (just like real teeth), this can help your implants ‘take’ successfully and last longer.
How do I care for dental implants?

Brush twice a day and floss once a day – interdental brushes that slide between the teeth are ideal for cleaning tricky and hard-to-reach areas. Giving up smoking will help to protect your jawbone and it’s important to visit us regularly.
